Jean BELLEGARRIGUE

1809-1864

Jean BELLEGARRIGUE was born on January 10, 1809 in Clairac. He is the son of Antoine Bellegarrigue, hatter, and Anne Alègre.
Incorporated into the 10th artillery regiment on October 3, 1830 as a young soldier of the 1829 class, he was appointed 1st gunner on February 6, 1832 and brigadier on October 20, 1834. He was appointed mounted gendarme in the Gers company on january 15, 1836, then brigadier in the Tarn-et-Garonne company on february 5, 1841. He married on July 3, 1841.
He was promoted marshal-des-logis to the Haute-Garonne Company on November 25, 1845. He was assigned to the Tarn-et-Garonne Company on April 6, 1847. He was awarded the Military Medal by decree of October 28, 1855.
Marshal-des-Logis in the Imperial Gendarmerie Company of Tarn-et-Garonne, at the residence of Caussade, he is made Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur by imperial decree of August 2, 1858. His knight's cross was awarded to him in Montauban, on October 12, 1858, by the squadron leader Auguste, César DUGAT, commanding the gendarmerie of Tarn-et-Garonne. He died on April 13, 1864.
