Jean GOUBIL

Jean, Laurent GOUBIL was born on August 6, 1788 in Clairac. He is the son of Antoine Goubil, master baker, and Catherine Ferré, his wife. He entered the service of the Royal Bourbon Regiment on 19 April 19, 1814 and was incorporated into the Queen's Regiment on April 30, 1814. The order of May 12, 1814 formed the Queen's Regiment in Paris with the 2nd Line Infantry Regiment. He was wounded by a shot in the left thigh on June 16, 1815 at the Battle of Ligny-sous-Fleurus in Belgium (Napoleon's last victory before Waterloo). Enlisted as a volunteer on July 11, 1816, he was made corporal on May 12, 1818, sergeant on January 16, 1819 and discharged from service on September 1, 1822.
Appointed dragon 1st class on October 15, 1831, brigadier on January 23, 1833, maréchal-des-logis on April 16, 1837, he was made Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur on September 28, 1844. His regiment was garrisoned in 1844 at Thionville (Moselle). He campaigned in 1815 in the Queen's regiment and in 1831/1832 in Belgium.
