Pierre DELPECH

1854-1934

Pierre, Charles, Eugène DELPECH was born on April 7, 1854 in Clairac. He is the son of Pierre, Adolphe Delpech, lawyer, mayor of Clairac, aged thirty-four, and of Antoinette, Louise, Clémence de Suriray de La Rue.
He volunteered at the Ecole Spéciale Militaire on October 19, 1874, and was appointed 1st class pupil on August 26, 1875, and 2nd class pupil on April 5, 1876. Having graduated 245th out of 394 pupils, he was assigned as second lieutenant to the 3rd Regiment of Chasseurs on October 1, 1876. He attended the Cavalry School from September 1, 1876 to October 13, 1877. He was assigned to the 7th Regiment of Chasseurs on October 24, 1877.
Appointed lieutenant on July 10, 1881, he was assigned to the 4th Régiment de Chasseurs.
He married Julie and Isabelle Imer on February 28, 1884.
Lieutenant in 1st on April 25, 1884, he was appointed captain on February 16, 1888. He resigned on August 13, 1891 and was removed from the controls the following August 26. He was appointed reserve captain on October 14, 1891. He served periods of training from 30 August to 26 September 1894, from 17 August to 14 September 1896 and from 20 August to 16 September 1898. At the same time, he developed a career as a sculptor and exhibited regularly. In 1922, he created the Clairac war memorial.
As a reserve captain in the 4th chasseurs regiment, he was made a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur by decree of July 11th 1900. His knight's cross was awarded to him in Paris on July 14, 1900 by Brigadier General Dalstein, commander of the Seine department. He died in Clairac in 1934.
